My weight is the same as it was yesterday and the day before, 138 lbs.

I enjoyed an entire pot of decaf coffee this morning and I added heavy whipping cream to all four cups.

My husband took a turkey breast out of our freezer the other day and defrosted it in our refrigerator. Since it was defrosted today, he seasoned it salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, and rosemary and put it into the oven for our lunch.

Since I am trying to make a habit of getting my exercises done, I took out my WATP Power Walk DVD and completed all three miles with my two pound hand weights. After cooling down, I tried to get an internet connection so I could update my blog, but it was still unavailable.

The turkey breast was almost ready so I made two salads with romaine lettuce, celery, cheddar cheese, some homegrown tomato, and our homemade vinaigrette dressing. My husband made himself some mashed potatoes and when the turkey was ready, he made some gravy. I like potatoes, but my preference is to eat them as french fries or fried potatoes, so I did not want any. My meal was simple, salad and a few slices of turkey breast.

When it came time for dinner, I was not hungry. My husband defrosted a couple of New York steaks earlier and I knew that if he made them, I would begin eating and then I would eat more than I needed since I really do love steak. His plan was to make steak with peppercorn sauce so he will be making them tomorrow for our lunch. He made himself a turkey sandwich with the leftover turkey so instead of me going without anything, I made me three stalks of celery and I stuffed them with cream cheese.

My weight is the same as it was yesterday, 138 lbs.

It is going to take me awhile to get used to the time change. I forced myself to stay in bed as long as I could and it was 5 a.m. when I finally gave up on trying to sleep. I ended up drinking four cups of decaf coffee and I added heavy whipping cream to each one of them.

My daughter's dog, Wasser, found his way outside of our fence again and when I called him I saw him trying to squeeze back under the fence to come back home. As I walked to get my shoes, I didn't see him crawl back under so I took my dog and my son's dog and we walked the fence line calling him the entire time.

I live on sixteen acres and our fence line surrounds the perimeter of our property. During my walk, I blocked the areas where he could crawl under, thanks to my dog Theo. Since Wasser is such a big guy, Anatolian Shephard/Great Pyrenees, he is an opportunist and not a digger. While walking the fence line I saw three or four different areas where the trees were growing and sitting on top of our fences. When I returned to the house, Wasser was laying in the breezeway looking guilty. I ignored him instead of petting him and walked into the house to inform my husband about the trees. I asked him if he would take the chainsaw and get the trees off of our fences and he asked me if I would join him. The two of us, along with all three dogs, walked the perimeter and my husband got all the trees off of our fences.

Since we live at the bottom of a hill, walking our property line means walking up and down a steep hill. The first time I walked the perimeter I started from the direction that is a little easier to walk since it was the last place I saw Wasser. The second time I walked the perimeter with my husband, we walked the opposite direction which is much steeper than the other way. I became winded while walking uphill but I continued on, getting my share of exercise today. Click here to continue reading, or leave a comment »

My weight is up a half of a pound and I saw 138 lbs. on my scale this morning. It may be because I weighed myself earlier than I usually do, or it could be because of the amount of New York steak I ate last night. It really doesn't matter because I am used to my weight going up and down, I just don't like it when it pops up.
.
I can't believe how many days it has been since I have had a stable internet connection. Apparently, I am a slave to the internet because I definitely miss it when it is not available. The worst part is that my husband is dependent on it because it is necessary for him to get work done.

I was able to get a connection long enough to update all of my menus. I did not have it long enough to comment on a post, but I will as soon as I can. I am also going to start a November exercise challenge since I plan on getting back into the habit of exercising.

Speaking of exercising, I was able to get another Walk Away the Pounds workout done today. Instead of doing the same one as I did on Thursday, I grabbed my Walk Away Your Waistline DVD and strapped on my walk belt. My calves were still sore from the other day but I completed all three miles.

My husband ate the last of the Bombay chicken and I was going to have an omelet but the time got away from me. When I got a chance to make me something for lunch I decided to make me a large salad with two slices of chopped bacon, two stalks of celery, some cheddar cheese, and three tablespoons of our homemade vinaigrette dressing. My weight dropped a half of a pound and I weighed 137-1/2 lbs. this morning.

I drank a whole pot of coffee, four and a half cups with heavy whipping cream. I have not been sleeping very well the last couple of nights so instead of drinking more of my decaf coffee later in the evening, I drank it all this morning.

After I finished my coffee, my husband and I discussed what we were going to have for our lunch and dinner today. I wanted to have more of the Bombay chicken for my lunch and I also suggested that we have a New York steak for dinner. The Bombay chicken was in the refrigerator but the New York steak was in the freezer so we needed to defrost it. My husband had defrosted some stuffed zucchini that we had previously frozen and he had it for his lunch. Because I was busy and my husband was hungry earlier than I was, he ate his lunch before I got up to make mine.

When I became hungry, I made myself a salad with romaine lettuce, celery, cheddar cheese, and some of our homemade vinaigrette dressing. I added a chicken thigh and some of the curry sauce into a bowl and warmed it up. As I was dishing it up, I wasn't sure if it was going to be enough for me so I left the container sitting on the counter just in case I wanted more. I enjoyed my salad and then I ate my chicken thigh. To my surprise, I was satisfied with my meal and put the rest of the Bombay chicken back into the refrigerator for another meal.

When we were at Costco the other day we bought a package of broccoli. Because it does not last very long in our refrigerator my husband steamed the entire bag. He didn't steam it very long and it was still a bit firm when he added about four stalks to a small bowl for me. He melted some butter and drizzled it over the top. I ate it before I was served my portion of the New York steak and my meal was delicious. I can definitely claim that I am a meat lover.

November, 2013 - CALP Low Carb Journal

This will be my daily journal for the month of November.

My weight was 137-1/2 lbs. today. Needless to say, I was pleased with my results since I lost one whole pound since last month.

I am still following CALP, except I do drink more than one cup of decaf coffee with heavy whipping cream each morning. The guidelines of CALP allows one cup of coffee with cream within fifteen minutes, but I do exceed that each and every day. I am still following a high fat, high protein, low carbohydrate diet under the guidelines of CALP except I don't always want or need carbohydrates with my Reward Meals (RM) besides vegetables.

I am still eating a gluten free diet most of the time and the only time I do eat wheat/gluten is when I have flour tortillas as a part of my RMs. The only time I eat wheat/gluten is when I have taco salads or our homemade empanadillas, but I don't have either one of them very often. Avoiding sugar continues to remain easy for me and I am still not missing it at all. I will continue to love the freedom of CALP and eat what I want since the guidelines allow me to choose anything I want as part of my RM each day.

Began CALP on 3/03/08

My weight is up a pound and a quarter and I weighed 138 lbs. this morning. This just proves to me how easy it is for me to retain water since I only ate one meal yesterday. Sure, my meal was higher in carbohydrates than I normally eat, but it is what I do each and everyday that really matters.

I enjoyed three cups of decaf coffee and added heavy whipping cream to each one. I poured my first glass of water and began drinking my water for the day.

I decided to do a Walk Away the Pounds (WATP) workout this morning. I grabbed my Power Walk DVD and completed all three miles with my two pound hand weights. The reason I decided to get started with my workouts again is because when I went to get my daughter's dog from outside the back fence the other day I got winded when I walked up the hill. Because my goal has always been to become fit and healthy, I will begin to focus on that again.

Right after I finished my workout I began making my husband and me our salads. They were both made with romaine lettuce, celery, cheddar cheese, and our homemade vinaigrette dressing. My husband warmed me up a bowl of the Bombay chicken he made the other day and I was able to enjoy a thigh with the sauce. As someone who would only eat white meat, I was pleasantly surprised that I could not tell the difference between the dark meat and white meat since it was covered in sauce.

When it came time for dinner I was hungry. My husband defrosted some leftover tri tip that he had previously cooked and we split it for dinner. He also warmed up the leftover stir fried cabbage, mushrooms, and zucchini which I enjoyed with my portion of tri tip. After I finished eating my dinner I drank the last cup and a half of decaf coffee that was left in my coffee pot and I added heavy whipping cream to both cups.

My weight is down another three quarters of a pound and I weighed 136-3/4 lbs. this morning.

I enjoyed my two cups of decaf coffee and added heavy whipping cream to both of them.

We lost our connection to the internet yesterday afternoon and we still did not have it this morning so my husband suggested we go to Costco since he could not get any work done. I thought it was a good idea but I was invited to see the ultrasound of my first biological grandchild and I wanted to see if it is a boy or a girl. The appointment was for 10:30 a.m., so I got ready to go to the doctor's office and I had my husband join me so we could continue on to Costco since I did not want to take the extra time to come back and get him.

The appointment went well but the baby was not in the right position for us to get a peek of what sex it is. We heard and saw a nice strong heartbeat, but the baby was facing downwards and his/her legs were blocking our view. There is another anatomy ultrasound scheduled for some time next week, so if the baby is in the right position then, we may be able to see if it is a boy or girl.

My husband and I left the appointment and it took us an hour to drive to the taqueria we like. We were both hungry and it was already past noon by the time we got there. I ordered a carne asada flying saucer, which is a taco salad with beans, carne asada, cheese, lettuce, guacamole, & sour cream in a fried flour tortilla shell. While it was being prepared, I enjoyed some fresh chips and pico de gallo. When my taco salad arrived, I poured the remaining pico de gallo over the top and began eating my lunch. It was delicious and I finished it all! Click here to continue reading, or leave a comment »

My weight is down another three quarters of a pound and I weighed 137-1/2 lbs. this morning.

I started my morning with two cups of decaf coffee and I added heavy whipping cream to both of them. Instead of drinking more coffee, I poured my first glass of water knowing that I still had a couple more cups left for later if I wanted.

I needed to go to the grocery store today because it was the last day that the chicken thighs were on sale for $.68/lb. and my mom asked me to pick up six packages for her. Since I did not know if there was a limit, my husband went with me. We ended up going to the post office to pick up our mail and then we went to the store. We picked up two whole turkey breasts, eight packages of chicken thighs, and one package of pork chops because we were going to have them for lunch since pork chops are easy to make. We also picked up two heads of romaine lettuce, mushrooms, and a package of Monterey Jack cheese.

After we arrived home and put away all the groceries, my husband fried two pork chops, putting the remainder of the package into our freezer. We still had some red cabbage and a zucchini in our refrigerator so he chopped that up with some of the mushrooms that we picked up today and stir fried them in coconut oil. My lunch included one pork chop and some of the stir fried mixed vegetables which I truly enjoyed.

Right after lunch my husband started our dinner. He made the Bombay chicken recipe that we both enjoyed last week except this time he made it with chicken thighs. I do not like dark meat chicken by itself, but I believe I have had it with sauces at Indian restaurants, so I am willing to give it a try. The recipe does not take long to prepare but it cooks in a slow cooker for several hours. Click here to continue reading, or leave a comment »

My weight is down three quarters of a pound and I weighed 138-1/4 lbs. this morning.

As I mentioned yesterday, limiting my coffee to two cups each day is not helping my hot flashes so I had three cups this morning. I added heavy whipping cream to each one and when I finished them I poured me my first glass of water for the day.

My husband still had some chicken leftover from the other day so I decided to have another omelet for my lunch. Unfortunately, when my husband got ready to make it I discovered we were out of Monterey Jack cheese so I no longer wanted it. I decided to have a pork chop so my husband had to defrost two of them since we freeze them two at a time. We finished the last of our lettuce yesterday so my husband went out to the garden and picked me a green bell pepper to go with my pork chop. He fried my pork chop and half of a bell pepper in coconut oil and placed them on a plate for me. I enjoyed my meal and even though there was another pork chop cooked, I did not eat it.

When I went out to feed my animals I could not find my daughter's dog. I called him and saw him on the other side of our gate. I live on sixteen acres and his location caused me to walk up a hill and to our back gate. I discovered that it was locked so as I was walking back to the house to get the key, I stopped to watch how he got out by watching him crawl back under the fence to return to our property. The only reason I am even mentioning this is because I did get some exercise walking up and down the hill today. Click here to continue reading, or leave a comment »

My weight is the same, 139 lbs.

I started my day with three cups of decaf coffee and I added heavy whipping cream to each one. When I finished my second cup I wanted more so I caved in and had a third. As soon as I finished my last cup I poured my first glass of water and began drinking it.

Even though I did not get to bed until after 1:30 a.m., I was awake by 6:30 a.m. Because I had such a long day yesterday, I was hungry about three hours later. My husband defrosted a New York steak for our lunch but instead of waiting until around noon to eat, I decided to have an omelet. He made mine with two eggs, two slices of bacon, jack cheese, and some of our homegrown bell pepper. After I finished my omelet I went to the kitchen and snacked on two more pieces of bacon, not because I was still hungry, but because it was good!

Since limiting my coffee to two cups each day has had no effect on my hot flashes, I decided to have more. I expected there to be two more cups left in the pot but there was only one and a quarter. I added heavy whipping cream to both of them and enjoyed the remainder of my coffee.

I thought I would be hungry earlier than usual since I ate my first meal earlier than I normally do, but I wasn't. When it came time for dinner my husband started the barbecue so he could grill the New York steak he took out of the freezer earlier. When the barbecue was almost ready I made a fresh batch of our homemade vinaigrette dressing and proceeded to make each of us a salad. My salad included romaine lettuce, celery, and some of our homemade vinaigrette dressing. Our salads were ready before the steak so I began eating mine. The steak was ready soon thereafter and I enjoyed the rest of my salad with my steak.
