My Day
My day began at 7:15 a.m., since I heard my daughter getting ready for work. I knew I was going to puppy sit Tango so I got up early enough for her to give me instructions on how he was to be fed. I went directly to the coffee pot and discovered ants all over the counter. Apparently my husband locked the trash compactor before he went to bed and since my son didn't bother to open it, he placed his applesauce and pudding containers on the counter instead of in the garbage.
Ants are bad enough but red ants are worse. I spotted them all over the garbage that was on the counter and unlocked the compactor so I could throw everything into it. I grabbed a paper towel so I could wet it and try to clean most of them up and didn't realize I leaned against the counter and some of them were crawling on my nightgown. It only took one bite for me to discover them and I was off to my bedroom to get my clothes off and into something else. When I returned, I noticed that the other side of the sink where my coffee pot is located did not have any ants on it. I made sure I was not leaning on anymore ants and started my coffee while taking a short break in my battle with the red ants. I took out the garbage and was heading back into the house when my daughter bent over to pick up Tango so she could hand him to me. I held Tango long enough for my coffee to finish brewing and then I set him down and poured my first cup of the morning. My daughter fed her horses and called me when she got to the gate to inform me that all six of the Kiko goats were out when one of her horses leaned against the gate and opened it. She told me she caught her horse and put him back but didn't have time to get all the goats put back. I told her I would take care of it and sent her on her way.
I sat my coffee on the table which is right next to my chair and went to the cupboard to find some sort of ant poison that I could leave on the counter. I tried to read the directions but found it too difficult to read through the goo that was in the bottle. I remembered my husband using it once before and he poured a small amount on the counter, so that is what I did. When I went to get my second cup of coffee, I noticed the small amount of poison was all gone so I poured a much larger amount and left it to do it's job.
I picked up my computer which was right where I left it the night before and began to read my email and catch up on my support groups. Once I caught up on my reading it was time for me to update my journal. I started my journal the night before and since I had more to say, continued to write my mini-series that was my journal entry for yesterday.
Need I remind you that I was puppy sitting, so I needed to interrupt my writing several times in order to check on the puppy. At one point he was crying outside my daughters bedroom so I opened the door for him to see that she wasn't there. He went straight to the other side of the bed and was up on the bed staring at me. Now this is a 15 week old Shi-Tzu puppy that is really tiny and only weighs about 4.5 lbs. I was so surprised that he was able to get up on the bed so quickly and had to go over and see just how he was able to do it. I discovered a bundle of bedding that he had no trouble using as his ladder. Since he was on the bed I decided I would sit down and see if he would come next to me. He jumped off the bed as soon as I sat down which really hurt my feelings. As soon as I got up, he went right back on the bed, so I left him there for a couple of minutes. When I went back, I tried to sit next to him again and this time he moved away from me but didn't jump off. We sat there for a few minutes and then I left him alone again. I wanted to close the door of my daughters room because I was getting tired of going back and forth and as soon as he left her room I went ahead and shut it.
Tango and I continued to watch one another and when I saw him sniffing around, I opened the front door and he followed me out. I sat on the porch while he tinkled and I told him what a good boy he was. I thought I had to make several trips to the bathroom to tinkle but this puppy goes many more times than I do. We had a couple of little tinkle accidents in the house so it was time for me to get out the puppy pad, since he knows how to use it.
I heard my sons' alarm going off and ignored it for 15 minutes until I finally woke him up to tell him that it was going off. My son was getting a tattoo and scheduled an appointment for noon so he would have plenty of time to make it to work by 3 p.m. He finally woke up, got ready to go and packed his antibiotics in a cooler so he could go directly to work afterwards.
I was finally able to get back to updating my journal since it takes much longer when multitasking is involved. I stopped long enough to escort Tango outside again and noticed he was beginning to respond to me. He approached me while I was sitting on the porch and allowed me to pet him. Once we got to that point I knew we would become pals before the day was over. I noticed the Kiko goats were hanging out by the gate so I walked over and opened it hoping they would go in. All it took was one of them to go in for a drink of water and the rest of them followed.
Lunch time came and it was time for me to cook my pork chops for my Complementary Meal. I had them cooking when my sister called to give me an update on my mom. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and the doctors didn't like something that showed up on her mammogram a couple of weeks ago. She just returned from the doctor and underwent several tests to see if she is able to handle the anesthesia that may be necessary after her ultrasound on Thursday. My mother has COPD and has been on oxygen ever since she went through her last battle with breast cancer a few years ago. If after the ultrasound the doctors find that it is necessary to have to perform surgery again, they need to make sure her lungs can handle it.
My sister also informed me that my aunt, the one that could not travel for 10 days, just arrived and would be staying for a couple of weeks. I was told to call after my doctor appointments and see if it is even necessary for me to have to go to my folks house. I will make sure I am prepared to go after my appointments and will take my overnight bag with me just in case. At the end of my conversation with my sister, my mom told her that she was thinking about postponing her appointment for another month. I told my sister to tell our mom that she could not do that and my sister told mom that I wanted to talk to her. I told my mom that we know that we are going to lose grandma but we didn't have to lose her too. I asked her if she wanted to live and when she told me yes, I told her she could not postpone anything and the sooner that we deal with it the better. She agreed with me and since I know that she has to answer to my dad, sister and me, there is no way she will get away with postponing it.
I finally finished my journal entry and got it published. I decided to begin my journal for today since I expect it to be another mini-series and plan on publishing it tonight before I go to bed, since I don't know if I will have access to the internet tomorrow.
Tango has decided to trust me and doesn't even run away from me anymore. He has not had any accidents since this morning and comes outside with me whenever I call him. He even came and sat next to me when I was sitting on the porch. We have the nicest Snowshoe Siamese cat named Milo that has been very tolerant of Tango. Tango is constantly barking and biting at him and Milo is going to get fed up and hurt him eventually. Our other cat Dee Dee showed Tango she was boss from the beginning so he doesn't even mess with her. Theo, one of our dogs, tries to ignore him every chance he gets.
My daughter decided to bring home a Papa Murphy's Take N Bake pepperoni pizza. I know I can have pizza on my program but know that it is mostly carbs. Since balance continues to be very important to me and I didn't feel as if I had enough protein to balance out the pizza carbs, I warmed up the extra pork chop that I cooked earlier and had that along with my leftover green beans. My meal does not sound very good as a whole, but eating one item at a time tasted just fine.
My husband was too tired to workout on the Bowflex with me but he was kind enough to hang out and help me get through mine.
If I end up going to my folks house, I will make sure I continue to keep my journal updated. As soon as I have access to the internet, I will make sure to get it published.
