My Day
My day began at 8:00 a.m., since I was unable to sleep very well the night before. I made my coffee and needed to sit down since my leg was hurting. Once the coffee was ready I poured me a cup and sat down again.

I had a really bad day with the pain in my leg and had to take some Vicodin to help alleviate it. I took the maximum amount I am allowed to take and sat around with my leg elevated. I had my operation on October 30, ten days ago, and feel I should be back to normal by now.

My husband made our dinner with the exception of my salad. I went into the kitchen to make my salad and noticed my leg was throbbing in the swollen area and the pain was shooting down my leg. I decided it was time for me to call the advice nurse since I was desperate to feel better. The advice nurse told me that she had a few appointments available that evening and asked if I wanted one of them. I told her I was an hour and fifteen minutes away so we scheduled an appointment for 8:15 p.m.

My husband took me to my appointment and when I saw the doctor he asked me about my blood clot. It took me a minute to realize what he was talking about and then I told him that it was located in my groin area but the pain I was experiencing was below my knee and shooting toward my ankle. He looked at the area and decided I didn't need an antibiotic. He gave me a refill of Vicodin and also gave me a new prescription for Motrin to help reduce the inflammation. Once I got my prescriptions filled I took a Motrin even though it said to take it with milk or food. It had only been a couple of hours since I had eaten dinner and I felt as if I had plenty of food left in my stomach to take it.

My husband and I returned home and since it was late, I wrapped my leg with the ace bandages and went to bed.
