Support Groups

When I began this way of eating, I did a search on the Internet for support groups that I could become involved with. I joined three support groups and the first one I found was http://www.lowcarbfriends.com. The group I was looking for was under Other Plans in the section titled Weight Loss Plans. I found the most recent thread of the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet (CAD) and chose to read and get to know some of the active members of the group. Once I felt I had an idea of what the group was like, I was ready to introduce myself and became an active member on March 8, 2008. I found this group to be very friendly and supportive but I really wanted to find people that ate more like I did, so I searched for another group to join. I decided that the best way to keep me focussed on my way of eating was by posting my menu on a daily basis, and have continued to be an active member by doing it everyday.

The second group I joined was http://forum.lowcarber.org. I joined the CAD/CALP group that was listed in the Active Low-Carber Forums under Daily Low-Carb Support. I decided to read and get to know some of the active members of the group and discovered it was a very small group. I noticed that the few active members balanced their meals like I did, and was very excited to join. I introduced myself to the group and became an active member on March 18, 2008. I have been posting my menu on a daily basis and continue to be an active member of this group also.

On the main page of The Active Low-Carber Forums, there are many support groups and forums to read. I decided to begin a journal on March 31, 2008, and with the exception of my “sick” week, have been posting everyday. Most of the time I post the same thing in my journal as I do in the support groups, but not always.

I started a Gym Log on May 13, 2008 and since I do the same thing every week, it is probably boring to others. I have continued to post my exercises on a daily basis because it helps to keep me motivated.

The third group I joined was http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/MyCAFriends. I was really excited when I found this group because the main page had a picture of the plan I was following. Again I decided to read some old posts in order to get to know everyone. I discovered that there are several members but most of them are not very active. I joined this group on April 11, 2008 and have been posting my meals on a daily basis ever since.
