Results of My First Two Months on CALP
I took my measurements on March 8, 2008, five days after beginning the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program (CALP). I knew I should keep some sort of record and wanted to continue to avoid the scale, so I chose to measure myself. After taking my measurements, I considered the results to be extremely harsh and even thought the scale would not have been as brutal. I was not in a hurry to take my measurements again and decided to take them once a month, so I could record them for my records.
I noticed a difference in the size of my clothes so I measured myself again on March 30, 2008. It is hard to believe that after only three weeks I had lost 1” off my chest, 3” off my waist, 2-1/4” off my hips, 1/2” off my arm, and a 1/2” off my leg. I was very pleased with the results and continued to look forward to the following month.
On April 3, 2008, exactly one month after beginning this plan again, I became sick with the worst cold/flu I have ever had. Since I was unable to eat any solid food for an entire week, my diet consisted of tea with lemon & honey, soup, crackers, and popsickles.
The first day I was able to eat again was on April 10, 2008, and I was unable to even try solid food until dinner time. I started my day with two cups of coffee and since I was able to drink it, I was hoping I could handle the thought of real food again. I decided to eat dinner and when I had no problem eating it, I knew I could get back on CALP the next day.
I began my first full day back on plan as usual and had two cups of coffee to start my day. My normal routine is to finish my coffee and then to begin my daily water regimen with one tablet of Solgar GTF Trivalent Chromium. This works well for me because I have made it a habit and do not forget to take it everyday.
I introduced my second option of exercise on April 14, 2008, since I had been back on plan for three days and was fully recovered by then. I began my exercise routine with a cardiovascular exercise called Walk Away The Pounds and chose to alternate it with Bowflex strength training, for a total of six days a week.
I measured myself again on April 28, 2008, and experienced a much smaller change in my measurements. I experienced an additional loss of 1/2” off my chest, 0” off my waist, 1/8” off my hips, 1/2” off my arm, and 1/2” off my leg. The inches were still coming off in most areas so I was still pleased.
Total inches lost over a two month period:
Chest - 1-1/2”
Waist - 3”
Hips - 2-3/8”
Arm - 1”
Leg - 1”
