My preference is to eat two meals a day, reserving my Reward Meal (RM) for dinner. I have found that eating an equal amount of vegetables and protein for a late breakfast or lunch keeps me satisfied for hours. A couple of times when I was away from home, I chose to skip my Complementary Meal (CM) because I did not have access to both vegetables and protein. Of course when I returned home I was hungry, and since it was dinner time, I had a very satisfying RM. I do not like to be hungry and it only took me a couple of times to learn to plan ahead.
After the first two weeks on the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program (CALP), I began one of the options that are suggested as part of the plan. I have always avoided taking any pills but chose to begin the GTF Chromium option because I wanted to be sure that I was able to control my insulin levels. I started taking one a day on March 18, 2008, and took them everyday for two weeks until I got sick on April 8, 2008 with the worst cold/flu I have ever had. In the past when I have been ill, it seemed that the only food I could consume was carbohydrates. This time was no different and I was off plan for seven days for the duration of my illness. As soon as I was feeling better, I was able to resume both the GTF Chromium option and my CALP diet.
On April 14, 2008, one week after I got back on plan, it was time to begin my second option. I chose to begin exercising six days a week, alternating between cardiovascular and strength training. My schedule was to include cardio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and strength training on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
